What each course is built on

The structure never changes from one course to the next (short lessons, quick checks, a closing 20-question exam, then a certificate and a reflective account). What differs is the U.S. standard at its core.

Choosing for everyday practice and renewal learning

If nothing is wrong and you want to sharpen your judgment, start with the course closest to your daily risk. Prescribers and hospital clinicians often pick consent, records or error disclosure; anyone who handles patient data benefits from HIPAA privacy. Remember these are not accredited CE or CME, so they add to, rather than replace, the hours your board requires. See the ethics hours guide for how renewal topics vary.

Choosing after a board complaint or employer concern

Begin with the complaints course to understand the process, then take the course that matches the allegation, such as boundaries or integrity. Remediation, insight and reflection help you show what you have learned. If an order requires a course, check whether it must be approved in advance before you enroll; our board discipline guide explains why.

Suggestions by profession

  • Physicians: consent, error disclosure and integrity, given False Claims Act and Stark exposure.
  • Nurses: boundaries, built around the NCSBN continuum, and documentation.
  • Pharmacists: ethics (APhA's eight principles) and HIPAA privacy.
  • Dentists: ethics under the ADA's five principles, and consent.
  • PAs: boundaries and professionalism under the AAPA Guidelines.
  • Therapists and counselors: confidentiality, including psychotherapy notes, and boundaries.

Choosing a course: questions

Can I buy more than one course at the same time?

Yes. Add as many courses as you need to your cart and check out once. Each course is US$89, has its own 20-question assessment and certificate, and stays separate in your account, so you can study them in any order that suits your schedule.

Does every course carry the same disclaimer about credit?

Yes. No course in this catalog is accredited for CE or CME or approved by a state board, and none awards contact hours on its own. If you want to use one toward a requirement, ask your board or employer first whether they will accept independent education.

Are the twelve courses different in content, or the same template?

They share a format but not content. Each course is written around a different body of U.S. law or professional guidance, with its own cases, knowledge checks and assessment questions. The table on this page shows the main standard behind each one.

I work in two states. Which rules do the courses follow?

The courses teach the federal rules and professional codes that apply everywhere, then show how named states differ. You hold a separate license in each state where you practice unless a compact applies, so check the practice act and board rules for each license you hold.

Is there a course for a concern that is not listed here?

Most board concerns fall under one or more of these twelve topics, such as integrity, boundaries, records or privacy. If yours does not fit, contact us with a short description and we will tell you honestly whether any course is relevant before you buy.

Do I have to finish a course in one sitting?

No. Courses are self-paced, so you can read a section, complete its knowledge check and return later. Take the 20-question final assessment once you have worked through all the lessons, then complete the structured reflective account while the learning is still fresh in your mind.
