From enrolment to certificate in five steps
- Choose your country and course. Pick the New Zealand or United States edition, then the course you need. Prices are shown in that country's currency.
- Check out securely. Create an account (or sign in) and pay by card at checkout. You get an order confirmation by email.
- Start straight away. The course appears instantly in "My Courses". It works on a phone, tablet or computer, and your progress is saved so you can stop and come back whenever you like.
- Work through the sections. Each course has several sections of lessons and case scenarios, with a short knowledge check at the end of each one.
- Pass the final assessment and download your documents. Score at least 16 out of 20, then download your certificate of completion and your completed reflective account as PDFs.
One account works across all country editions, so if you need courses for more than one country you can keep them in the same place.
What studying a course looks like
Courses are written in plain language for busy professionals. Lessons explain the relevant law, regulator standards and codes for your country, then apply them to realistic situations: a patient who asks to connect on social media, a record that needs correcting, a complaint letter that has just arrived. Knowledge checks are there to help you learn, not to catch you out. If you get one wrong, the explanation shows why, and you can revisit the lesson.
The final assessment
- 20 scenario-based multiple-choice questions covering the whole course
- Pass mark: 80%, which means 16 correct answers out of 20
- Questions test whether you can apply the standards, not whether you remember a page number
- If you do not pass, review the sections where you dropped marks and retake the assessment
The assessment is designed so that it can be passed by completing the course properly. That is what gives your certificate meaning.
Your certificate and reflective account
Your Fitness To Practice certificate of completion shows your name, the course title and country edition, the CPD hours, and the date you passed the final assessment. It confirms that you completed the course and passed its assessment. It does not certify accreditation, regulator or board approval, or your clinical competence.
The structured reflective account guides you through four prompts: why you took the course, the key points you took away, the changes you intend to make, and the evidence that will show those changes in your work. Write it in your own words; a genuine, specific reflection is far more useful than a generic one.
Keep reflections safe. Leave out names and anything else that could let someone identify a patient, a colleague or a particular case. Focus on your learning and your practice. Some legal and regulatory processes can require reflections to be handed over, so anyone with an open complaint or case should talk to their adviser before reflecting on it in writing.
Using your learning with your regulator or board
New Zealand
In New Zealand, authorities rarely approve outside courses one by one; instead, most recertification programmes recognise relevant learning that you have planned and then reflected on. You may be able to use a course towards your requirements where it fits your professional development plan and scope of practice, but your authority's rules decide that. Where an RA or the HPDT has set a competence or recertification programme or other required education, it alone decides whether one of our courses can count.
United States
Because our courses carry no CE or CME accreditation, do not count on them for license renewal hours. Many licensees use them as self-directed learning. If a board order or consent order requires a course, it often has to come from a board-approved provider, so check the wording of your order with your board or attorney before you enrol.
Questions
Is there a time limit on my access after purchase?
Courses are self-paced, so there is no deadline to complete each section, and your progress is saved every time you leave. Most people finish within a few sittings. If you need your certificate by a particular date, such as a renewal deadline or a meeting with your regulator, allow yourself time to complete the reflective account properly rather than rushing it.
Can I study on my phone?
Yes. The course pages, knowledge checks and final assessment all work in a modern mobile browser, and your progress syncs to your account, so you can start on a phone and finish on a laptop, where writing the reflective account is often easier.
Is there a second chance if I score below 16 out of 20?
Your result shows which areas you found difficult. Go back to those sections, review the lessons and knowledge-check explanations, then retake the assessment. The pass mark stays the same, 16 correct answers out of 20, because the certificate is meant to show that you have genuinely understood the course.
Does the certificate show my score?
The certificate confirms that you completed the course and passed the final assessment at or above the 80% pass mark, together with the course title, country edition, CPD hours and completion date. It is a record of completion for your portfolio, not a qualification or a statement of competence.
Can my employer or a colleague see my reflective account?
No. Your reflective account is private to your account. We do not send it to any regulator, board or employer. You decide whether to download it and share it, for example in a portfolio, an appraisal or with your adviser. See the privacy policy for how we protect it.
