About this course

This course explains what the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) requires of every registered physiotherapist, occupational therapist, speech-language therapist, diagnostic radiographer and radiation therapist in Singapore, and how those requirements work in daily practice. It covers the Allied Health Professions Act 2011, the twelve sections of the AHPC Code of Professional Conduct, the four registers and their conditions, titles and offences, practising certificate renewal, the supervisory framework for conditionally registered professionals, delegation to Therapy Support Staff, consent and the Mental Capacity Act 2008, scope and referral, telehealth, adverse events and radiation safety, records and the PDPA, fees and third-party work, the CPE requirements that apply from 2027, and the complaints and disciplinary process.

It is written for allied health professionals in public healthcare clusters, community hospitals, nursing homes, schools, voluntary welfare organisations and private practice. It is also useful for foreign-trained professionals on conditional registration, new graduates, supervisors and heads of department, clinic owners, professionals returning to practice or changing field, and those responding to a concern.

The AHPC's expectations are spread across the Act, a short Code, several guidelines, the CPE framework and a series of circulars, and most regulatory problems arise from not knowing a requirement rather than from bad intent. This course brings them together with illustrative Singapore cases, so that you can check your own practice against what a Complaints Committee or Disciplinary Tribunal would expect.

Questions about this course

What does this allied health professional standards course cover?

It brings together what the AHPC expects of registered allied health professionals: the Allied Health Professions Act 2011, the twelve sections of the Code of Professional Conduct, the four registers, titles and offences, practising certificate renewal, the supervisory framework, delegation to Therapy Support Staff, consent and capacity, scope and referral, telehealth, adverse events and radiation safety, records and the PDPA, fees and third-party reports, CPE and the complaints and disciplinary process.

Which professions is it for?

Physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech-language therapists, diagnostic radiographers and radiation therapists registered with the AHPC, in any setting. Some lessons, such as those on Therapy Support Staff and dysphagia, are most relevant to the therapy professions, and others, such as radiation safety, to radiographers and radiation therapists.

Does the course explain the AHPC's CPE requirements?

Yes. A full section explains the CPE framework: the voluntary phase from March 2024, the requirement for practising certificate renewal from 1 January 2027, the 50 points (at least 10 core) needed for a two-year certificate, qualifying periods, the CPE categories and their caps, late claims and applications for reduced requirements.

Will this course give me AHPC CPE points?

Whether any activity is accepted for CPE, and in which category, is decided by the AHPC under its own rules. You receive a certificate of completion and a written reflection that you can keep in your learning record.

Is it useful for foreign-trained professionals on conditional registration?

Yes. It explains conditional registration, the 18-month supervised period for foreign-trained professionals, the three levels of supervision, assessment reports, the duty to notify changes of employer or supervisor a month ahead, and the wider Singapore context of consent, capacity, family involvement and language.

I supervise new therapists. Does the course cover my responsibilities?

It covers supervisor criteria, institutional requirements, minimum contact hours, case audits, supervisor ratios, the SF2 to SF5 forms and the supervision log, how to handle a struggling supervisee and how to write an honest assessment report, together with the Code's duties on supervision and delegation.

Can I use this course if I am responding to an AHPC complaint or condition?

It explains the complaints process, Committee and Tribunal outcomes, appeals, conditions and how to demonstrate insight, and many professionals find it useful preparation.

How long does the course take, and how is it assessed?

Allow about 2 hours online, at your own pace. Each section ends with a short knowledge check, and the course finishes with 20 scenario-based questions; you pass with 16 correct (80%). You then receive a certificate of completion and complete a guided reflection linked to a section of the Code or an AHPC guideline.

How this course was built

Official sources only

Every legal and regulatory point comes from primary sources: the Acts that set up each professional board, the boards' own codes and guidance, and the Ministry of Health. Anything we cannot confirm is left out.

Original, edition by edition

Lessons, scenarios and assessment questions are written by us for each edition separately, then checked for accuracy, teaching quality and fair assessment before publication.

Reviewed when rules change

When a code, standard or law changes, the affected courses are reviewed and updated. Reported errors in legal or regulatory facts are corrected first.
